DH has twisted his ankle - advice needed

DH fell awkwardly this morning catching his train and badly twisted his ankle. It is not showing any bruising at the moment nor is it very swollen (but puffy if you look closely) but he can not bear any weight on it.

Whats to do?

Ice pack?

Heat pad?

Keep support bandage on or not?

whats best?

I think the general treatment is
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

Raise/rest it, Ice on it, Support bandage, Arnica cream or Ibruprofen gel, Nurofen. gentle exercise rotating the ankle in each direction to keep mobility.

I did this 2 weeks before Christmas and it is still not right and hard to stretch/turn

I know a first aider who when presented with someone with a twisted ankle & reminded about "R-I-C-E" said 'I don't think there is any rice, would frozen peas do?'

Alternate heat and ice. First heat then ice.
