swollen, hot ear, doctor or not?

The last few days my right ear has been painful, but this morning it has swollen up, bright red and feels a bit crusty. It's only the outer area, my hearing is fine, and there isn't a noticeable smell. I'm 21 weeks pregnant, though probably not relevant.

It feels like I may have scratched just inside from the lobe and that has got infected.

Should I try for a doctors appointment, or would a pharmacist be able to help? Not sure if maybe antiseptic cream would do the job.

I would want to see that today(GP) hope you got it sorted.

My daughter had this. It was a staph infection. The Dr prescribed Bactraban cream.

Thanks, managed to get seen and have cream and a spray as apparently the infection was making its merry way down the ear canal!
