Been back at work two days. DD has come down ill after being at nursery for a few days. Has been sick early morning, now sleeping with dad on sofa. Looks pale. Has had no milk (26 weeks old) but drank water. Is this normal for when they are sick? Do you think it is a case for the doctor? Got to go to work. Feel awful!!!

Yes, they get lots of bugs when they go to nursery. It's good for them (eventually!). Just have to ride with it, monitor and look after best you can. Keep her on just water no milk as long as you dare. Don't be afraid to phone NHS-direct for advice.

Yes there is no more certain thing in the world at this time of year - Nursery = bugs!

They need these bugs to get good immunity as Flack says and you need to work so don't feel guilty.

A recent survey found that children that lack early years exposure to the everyday bugs and other children have much higher instances of childhood leukaemia ? so it is all good in the longer run ? but I know you feel awful about it now
