What contraception?

I've started seeing a a lovely lovely man after two years of a drought following separation from my xp. We have not had sex yet but I think/hope it's on the cards and although I'll insist on condoms I think I'd like to use my own form of contraception as well - considering DS1 is the result of a split condom.

I have tried the pill in the past but it was useless as I constantly forgot to take it, it affected my libido badly and I am not crazy about the idea of hormonal contraception - this means the mirena coil is probably out too (although I have heard good things about it, and I wouldn't have the problem of forgetting to take it). Diaphragm sounds messy. Injections are too long-term and I've read some bad press on them. Help!

any ideas recommendations?

Thanks Wurlywurly, I've thought about the copper coil - it seems like the best option. Does any one have one fitted? Would you recommend it?

Hi. I had the non-hormonal coil fitted after dd was born as didn't want any hormonal contraception again. It is great - quick and easy to get fitted, and has given me no problems whatsoever. Good Luck.
