DS has already gotten one molar but i don;t remember it taking this long to come through.
his gums have been swollen for a couple of weeks now. gradually getting worse and worse. this morning it's the size of a rather large chickpea (soaked, not dry) and still no sign of any tooth yet.
should i be worried?

it's taken about 3 weeks for ds' bottom right molar to properly come through and it made him miserable - and right through the christmas hols too . then one morning last week he slept from 6.15pm until 8.30am and suddenly got his good appetite back. boy what a relief

purplemonkeywishdasher · 03/01/2007 10:23

oh god, peanutbutter. don't tease me.
DS has NEVER slept that much in his LIFE.
I'm lucky if i get 6 hours out of him. and right now it's closer to 2.

ugh, you poor thing, you must be utterly exhausted. i don't really know what to suggest - does it look angry looking or just swollen?

purplemonkeywishdasher · 03/01/2007 10:33

can't really get a good look at it. it's more by feel iyswim. but it feels pretty bad.

your poor ds. let's hope it either subsides for a while or breaks through. are you giving him anything at night time to help him sleep a bit more?

purplemonkeywishdasher · 03/01/2007 16:49

oh yes. we've got calpol and nurofen going at various times in the night. plus gel.
i wish i sould just blame the sleep thing on the teeth but sadly that's not the case!

yuck, i feel for you. do you think it's worth ringing your dentist and seeing if they'll just have a look in his mouth to reassure you?

let us know how you all get on will you?

purplemonkeywishdasher · 04/01/2007 21:17

ugh.

It didn't seem as swollen today. but now he's all stuffed up and snotty, which i'm hoping is just because of the tooth.

He's been up in bed for just over an hour and i've already been up twice for him.
and last night he was up from 12:30 til nearly 4am.
I'm exhausted and frustrated. BUt i feel so bad for the little guy.

i'm having molar-related 'fun' at the moment too. Amazingly, DS sleeping well considering. He fell asleep early (before 6pm) so put him down. He still sleeping now, although i've popped up twice to give him a 2 minute cuddle. He's got a cold and nappy rash too, and off his food and milk. I'll be glad when they're all through!

You have my deepest sympathy!

purplemonkeywishdasher · 04/01/2007 22:26

maybe they shoud sell cards for it:

"Deepest Sympathy:
you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. may they all come through quickly."

yes, 'Sorry to hear you're teething'

peanutbutter · 05/01/2007 09:50

yes, ds had to contend with a horrible cold - a particularly chesty one in fact - as well as the molar teething. it's hellish isn't it hope they feel better soon.

Wilbur · 05/01/2007 10:16

We've got molars coming through here too - ds2 seems to be suffering with it far worse than ds1 or dd, poor bunny. His bottom gums have been very swollen, purple monkey, but they have now subsided and the teeth are coming through. He's still crying out in the night though, but I am not having to use calpol now, so he must be feeling a bit better. I'm crossing my fingers that they'll be properly through soon, although I do think the worst of it is just as they are about to break through for the first time.

DetentionGrrrl · 05/01/2007 13:08

I spoke too soon last night- was up for hours after i posted. and he's drooling like a champ today.

purplemonkeywishdasher · 05/01/2007 20:11

nothing yet. his nose is running like a tap. if a tap spewed thick green water that is! (TMI ALERT!)
We went up to st andrews today and he slept on the way there and on the way back. so, of course he's not tired now but maybe he'll sleep better tonight. he's certainly in a better mood right now than he has been in a while.
