Consultant saw him today and feels that chemo is working well, as he isn't filling up with fluid.

Told him that av life expectancy is 3-6 months, but 25% of people on his regime reach a Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Down side, he is now diabetic....plus to this is that if they can get that sorted he will put on some weight....he has now lost 1/3rd of his body mass

So a positive day for us.

good news MB - am keeping fingers and toes crossed for you ( it's making me walk funny though)

tamum · 02/01/2007 19:02

Oh, fan-bloody-tastic, mb, I'm so pleased. There was a thing in the paper today about how they're starting clinical trials with photodynamic therapy for pancreatic cancer in London, don't know if that's worth looking into? It's a more efficient drug delivery method, I think.

LadyTophamHatt · 02/01/2007 19:04

ohhh MB I'm absolutley chuffed to see you posting this.

Wonderful news for the MB family.

mamama · 02/01/2007 19:17

Yay, Martianbishop! I'm glad he's feeling and looking so much better. 9l is an awful lot of fluid

Thanks for keeping us posted.

Still sending positive vibes... x

foxinsocks · 02/01/2007 19:27

excellent news!

Is it the type of diabetes they can sort out with the tablets/injections?

Blandmum · 02/01/2007 19:32

Probably tablets, since his pancreas is basically stoping working (it is the site of the primary tumour)

So pleased to hear you've had good news at last

FIL is coping well with his diabetes having had his pancreas removed because of cancer about this time last year. Hopefully Mr MB will control his just as well.

Blandmum · 02/01/2007 19:45

sadly dh's is too far progressed for an op, as it has already spread

I am so pleased you've had some good news MB. Here's hoping they can get the diabetes sorted.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 02/01/2007 20:04

I remember you saying that, MB I think they were gobsmacked that FIL was suitable TBH.

Blandmum · 02/01/2007 20:06

He was exceptionally lucky your FIL. Normally it is 'silet' so they don't pick it up until too late for surgery. Glad your FIL is doing well.
