filling needed to front of tooth for sensitivity

Was at dentist yesterday who advised me that I "may need this done." Has anyone ever had this done who can tell me what it entails? I asked her at the appointment but instead she went into detail about what tartar isHmm (already know this thanks) and seemed in a rush to get me out of the room as they were running behind on appointments.

Ask her for a private prescription for Duraphat 5000. It is wonderful stuff that desensitises your teeth. It really works.
I used to jump with pain when the hygienist cleaned my teeth and now I don't. Could you not try this before you have a filling. I had a filling before I tried this toothpaste.
