Eucalyptus oil in dds (age 4) bath?

Dd is v. snuffly and refuses to blow her nose for some reason.

Could I put a couple of drops of eucalyptus essential oils in her bath? I've lost my aromatherapy book that would tell me if it's suitable for use for children.

Don't know the answer Betty but out of interest which aromatherapy book do you use as I would like to start collecting some oils of my own for family use - thanks (sorry for the hijack!!)

I dont think I would put it in bath as very strong. Why not put a bowl of hot water in the bathroom out of reach with oil in. That way you can still inhale the vapours.

Yes, tickled, I was worried about the strength, but kind of hoped that if well diluted it would be OK! (clutching at straws emoticon)

McDreamy, if I ever find the book I'll tell you the title ...a serious New Year sort out is needed in this house!

I might add I'm no aromatherapist or anything. This is just what I do as I know certain oils dont mix too well in the water. Sometimes I fill the sink with water and oil in the same way, once DD is in the bath and not tempted to touch.

Eucalyptus oil is orally toxic. I would not put it in a bath where it may be injested.

I would vapourise it in a burner or bowl of water if you need to use it. It is a fantastic oil to use but be careful.

Right-o, thanks for that. I like the idea of filling the sink in the bathroom and putting the oil in that while dd is in the bath.
