IMPETIGO? ADVICE NEEDED

My friend's step daughter has got impetigo apparently and is in some discomfort. First of all, is impetigo very contagious and also any idea how to treat it on a Sunday night?

My son had impetigo on his shin recently. We used separate towels and he was prescribed some cream for it, and it cleared up within a week. It hasn't spread or infected the rest of the family.

Don't know about any home remedies, sorry

Yes, it's very very contagious and will need anti-biotics. Try to keep her from touching it and make sure her hands are clean. A complication is further staph infection of the sores. It can make you feel quite grotty and unwell, but responds well to anti-biotics.

There is a cream that works well but I have a feeling a prescription is needed. You could try emergency gp service or go fisrt thing in the morning. The affected area expands really really quickly. The cream will start to take effect quickly though.

It's horrible, we ahve all had it b4. Antibiotics is the only way I konw to get rid of it, the sooner they are taken the better.
