Is there anything else that could explain DS (6) red / bumpy rash on both cheeks other than Slapped Cheek ??
He's just getting over a cold/cough & we have just noticed his cheeks - glowing red poor thing. Seems OK in himself tho

My dd, 7, had a bumpy rash on her face a few days ago. Took her to the doc who said it was probably an allergy, but impossible to pinpoint what. Other possibility is that it's part of a cold type virus. She still has the rash and seems generally run down. Incidentally, she has also just lost two teeth in the last three days, so that may have been something to do with it. The doc told me Slapped Cheek is a bright red stripy mark and there's no discomfort or other signs of being unwell, so if it's a bumpy type rash, you can rule that out.

Thanks - he seems fine (apart from the tail end of his cold) & no other spots anywhere else. I saw it earlier & just thought that he was to warm

Could be anything really. You could give children's Piriton (antihistaime) to make the rash go down if it's very bad, but it'll probably pass in a couple of days! Good luck.

he went to bed OK - so will check on him later & see how he is in the morning. Thanks
