I'm currently 7 weeks into my 3rd pg (one dd, one mc) and have the most awful barking cough, which makes me wet my pants (or my Tena Lady).

I had a tiny bit of incontinence shortly before and after dd was born, but have been fine since, until now.

Will constant pelvic floor exercises help me or is it lost forever?

TIA

Oh Bibijesus, you poor thing! Not much fun! I don't know much about this but my mum had problems of this nature in her 60's and had some quite intensive physio for it which helped enormously. I'm sure that this is pregnancy related and pelvic floor exercises will help but be reassured that there is further help out there. Sorry not a huge help. bb xx

Pelvic floors do help but you really do have to keep on doing them. You have my sympathy - I'm 22 weeks pg with my third, and I'm still barfing, and every time I barf I leak wee. Nice!
I do find that pelvic floors help, but then I forget to do them for a week or two and the leaks come back.

Don't despair bibijesus, the exercises really can help to fix this problem.

I have had it since the birth of dd and had a course of specialist physio to teach me how to do the exercises properly etc. It really sorted me out, although if i have a bad cough, as i do now , or puke, i still leak.

You'll also find things will settle down a bit when your hormones go back to normal after the pregnancy.

good luck and big hugs

It's not just you! Also had no problems until about 20 weeks into this pg... Went to my doctor to rule out any infection. Bit of a hijack as I asked my doctors what pelvic floor exercises to do, ie. could they give me a list on paper or something so I don't go home and forget most of it, and she said just to kind of squeeze... How helpful! So, does anyone know if there's a website with step by step instructions?!!

deepest sympathy I had problems ( and still have) as hormones are still haywire since dd was born now 10 months.) I have series of PN pelvic floor exercises to do but a realy good one is sit on a hard straight backed chair , lean slightly forward and suck yr thumb in short bursts ...Go on try it !

try this link

Pauline Chiarelli is the uber guru of incontinence (how sad am i that i know this? )

You can download her book free of charge from her site. It tells you lots of useful stuff about the exercises, but the best thing by far is to see a physio.

I had problems with this in my second pregnancy so can totally relate. Pelvic floor exercises and in the meantime try those pantyliners for the leaking. In the US they are called Poise. They don't feel any different than a regular pad but really help. After ds2 was born things returned to normal quite quickly.
