weird 6 week check after caesarean

I wonder if anyone can tell me whether this is normal. I had a caesarean 6 weeks ago and yesterday went for my 6 week check. It was with a nurse and all she did was take my blood pressure and then said I could go. She didn't look at the scar or ask any questions apart from to check that ds would be coming for vaccinations in 2 weeks time! I was hoping she could tell me when I could start exercising etc, but all I got was 'sorry love, I don't know anything about that'. Is this a normal 6 week check - I was expecting a bit more after major abdominal surgery? Would you try and see someone else, or is this fairly standard? Also does anyone know when I can start doing sit-ups - I'm desperate to tone the big jelly that is mascarading as my stomach! Thanks.

I had my 6 wk check with a doctor and as far as I know it should be with a doctor? And I had trouble free normal delivery... I'd rebook an appt with GP to ask her/him/it the specific detailed questions to be on safe side...

I didn't have a six week check at all. Didn't feel the need. If I wanted to exercise (horror!) I'd do so starting off quite gently. Pregnancy is quite a thing for your body to go through.

I know what you are talking about, with my first 6 week check It was as thought they just wanted to see I could walk and my insides weren't obviously spilling out, but at my second one I had a list of questions and demanded they look at my scar. (Had the most delightful camp African Doctor who told me it was fabulous and I could start wearing hipsters again)

Piffleoffagus is right, if you do want to know more try your health visitor or better still book a slot with your GP.

Regarding exercise have a look at this

having had 3 c/s I suggest taking it easy with the exercise. I tried to hard after no2 and it bloody hurt. My dr said no sit ups for at least 3 mths. 4 would be better. Your fitness and body shape will return quite naturally after about 8 months. Midwife seems just lazy to me, but the NHS is so crap these days nothing would surprise me. (sorry to any one who works there, no offence)

My health visitor recommended swimming though and that helped alot.

Thank you so much for your replies. I'll book an appointment with my GP I think. Goodkate, although I'm keen to get my stomach back into shape, 3 months with no exercise sounds fantastic so for medical reasons I may force myself to follow your advice! Thanks!
