What Does Spotting Mean?

Only had 1 period since DS was born (12th November), not had one since but im breastfeeding (although now it's abit mixed, last week) but Christmas Day I had a tiny bit of blood. I thought my period might be starting, but it hasn't come. Is spotting just one of those things?

Probably nothing but maybe a breakthrough in reaction to erratic feeding.
