colic and osteopathy

Has anyone out there tried osteopathy as a possible help to colicky problems? My 18 week old ds2 (bf) is still suffering such griping pains and we're wondering if this could be the way forward. Would be glad to hear if anyone's tried it. Am new to this and it seems a good place to meet others with similar problems.

No-one? Really? Am hoping someone will be able to advise if this is a good idea? Actually just a general moan about colic would be good as am finding it v frustrating that can't ease ds2's obvious discomfort. Thought this problem would be long gone by this stage. Advice please - anyone.

Thank you Bron. I can't believe the colic is going on this long - is very frustrating not to mention painful for me if he has pain while feeding!! Have booked a session with almost qualified, supervised students in nearby clinic and have been advised (hopefully well) that they are very good with babies and have a high success rate. Anyone who can help will be a saint!!

Good luck Aero - let us know if it works. DD is looking like following DS down the colic route

just a thought aero- worth looking at possibility of gastro reflux? - it's like heartburn...symptoms very similar to colic... lots of discomfort and pain... they can actually do tests for this if you think it is bad enough (we didn't but know someone who did)
we did try cranial osteopathy which didn't unfortunately have much effect on dd1 but think went too late.. (she was about 8 months or so)
Good luck anyway colic etc is awful... (for you particularly!)

ds1 had gastro reflux which showed on a scan. He was sick a lot though and had a VSD (little hole in heart), so he often had check-ups. Had infant gaviscon but cleaning up sick was easier than trying to give it! Is perfectly healthy 6yr old now though. Hadn't thought of it for ds2 but he has such problems winding I'm assuming that is the problem. Will ask though if no joy with osteo. Thanks

I highly recommend cranial osteopathy too - but I think its important that you go to one that is recommended. I have just been to one with my 5 wk old ds who was suffering very badly from wind and there is a marked difference. ds is so much happier and brings up his wind more easily. The cranial oestopath I saw had been recommended my a close friend of mine (who swore by her), and only deals with babies and children. I would say it was worth every penny of the treatment I received.

Thanks mb. The place I'm going to has been highly recommended and the students are closely supervised by a well-known and recommended osteopath. Spent an hour on phone to lactation consultant (a whole other story - thread somewhere) who also recommended them so feel re-assured. Money is tight, so am hoping this will work. Appt is Tues so will keep you all posted.
