I'm not terribly convinced by this week Confused

The aim is to keep outside pollutants outside of the house with the following methods:

  1. Have a no show policy inside the house - remove your shoes at the door and keep fluffy socks and slippers for guests (causing MNer friends and family members to start AIBU threads about you Grin)
  1. The "buffer zone" where you remove shoes should have flooring that is easy to clean, is resistant to moisture and doesn't collect dirt and dust.
  1. The buffer zone should have: a shoe scraper for mud and snow, an outdoor mat to wipe shoes on, an area rug that can be washed, a waterproof shoe mat or tray to collect water when it's raining, a bench/chair to sit on when removing shoes, an exhaust fan to ventilate and avoid mildew and mould (wtf?), hooks for coats, baskets for bags and an umbrella holder.

I'm going to use this week for something else personally!

Previous weeks to carry on with are drinking more water, getting routine activity, getting more sleep, keeping a food diary and taking a multivitamin.

Oddsocks thanks for the tip off about electric blankets! Dp bought one for dd2 as she was so cold last night, poor little thing had slightly blue fingers Shock when I woke her up. She did soon warm up, though.

OddSocksHighHeels · 12/02/2016 16:16

Oh poor little thing. I hope you get it fixed soon, it sounds awful.

Fingers crossed the part is ready tomorrow. We now have an electric blanket for her tonight, so should be better. Sorry to derail thread!

NoCapes · 12/02/2016 17:30

You're right OddSocks k could condense the water & vitamin into one week
Is everybody doing a multivitamin? I have been meaning to start taking vitamin d for ages so might just actually do that finally
I am already on iron tablets (since I lost a horrendous amount of blood in labour) so I'm kind of doing that week already
I walk the dog every day (mostly) so think I will focus on making sure it is every single day, even in the rain (wah!) too
Then I'm nearly up to date aren't I? Doing well with my water so far and actually feeling much better for it Smile

NoCapes · 12/02/2016 17:31

Oh and sympathies quirky I am allllways cold, the thought of living with no boiler is my worst nightmare Brew for you

OddSocksHighHeels · 12/02/2016 17:52

Yep that's pretty much you caught up then NoCapes

I take a multivitamin with extra iron. I think it has enough Vitamin D in it but I should check because there's no way I'm getting enough naturally in this weather!

Came on to say I've got back on track after a bad week last week but reading others' comments has reminded me I didn't take my vitamins today!
Am absolutely exhausted, off to bed...

quirkychick · 13/02/2016 07:30

8 1/2hrs sleep! I have managed over 8hrs twice this week - woo hoo! That's cos it's too cold to stay up, so bed is appealling at 9:30pm Grin.

I think I forgot my vitamins, yesterday... I ended up with dd1 at home with a bladder infection, so it was a bit mad, but she seems much better today.

I have managed Headspace, I need to remain as calm as possible atm and I have restarted weights, these last few days. Yoga might be a write off until we know which day the boiler people are coming, today or tomorrow.

Thanks for everyone's well wishes.

quirkychick · 13/02/2016 07:31

Hope you are feeling better this week, Pointlessfan.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 13/02/2016 17:04

Sorry for your sadnessSirona

quirky your boiler problems sound worrying, hope it's fixed soon and you are managing to keep everyone warm.
Very relieved to hear that the carbon monoxide leak had no ill effects.

Sounds like you're doing well catching upnocapes Smile

Hope everything is good with you OddSocks, if we all pool our millions we may manage an acceptable buffer zone between us!

I'm in a cafe in France, DH watching the rugby.
Upside is I'm online for the first time since Wednesday Wine (I'm an hour ahead of you haha!)

Am doing particularly well with the sleep since we've been away Grin

Sirona · 13/02/2016 19:15

Thank you all Flowers Ok I'm back after an exceedingly poor week.

Lordy quirky, that's pretty damn scary about the carbon monoxide leak. Hope you managed to get your boiler fixed today. I hate the cold with a passion so would hate to be in with no central heating. My fire has been on all day and I'm still cuddled up with my onesie and a blanket Grin You are doing well to remain calm with all that's been going on.

Are you on holiday Bewitched or live there? I'm sure the café was a-buzz with the France result. I seen it coming before the match was even played but still a tiny bit gutted we got beat.

No fancy buffer zone here either DrDiva, I have one of those houses that opens from the front door to the living room. I hate it. Especially when the dc decide to talk to their mates with the door lying wide open and letting all the heat out.

Pointlessfan · 13/02/2016 19:22

Much better thanks quirky, hope you get your boiler fixed, tomorrow is going to be cold!

OddSocksHighHeels · 13/02/2016 21:33

I don't know how you're coping without the heating in this weather quirky it's awful! Good job you'll have it fixed soon, fingers crossed it will be tomorrow.

Nice to see you back Sirona hope you're well Flowers

Thanks everybody! WE HAVE HEATING! It was put on about 7pm last night. I normally don't mind the bright, cold winter weather if I'm wrapped up and can come home to a warm cosy house. Eating was a bit all over yesterday as dd2 had music then a party and the boiler engineer was here... might have had a fry up and then fish and chips (low carbing-ish so had with mushy peas Grin). Was delish!

Sirona Flowers for you, you are allowed to have a poor week. We lost a friend's husband over Christmas, we are all still in shock.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 14/02/2016 15:02

Here on holiday Sirona.

They're all a bit Gallic shrug/pout about the result; far more supportive of local teams than national. Two wins by one point is quite dramatic I would have thought.
Well done you getting back in the swing so quickly Flowers
