Has anyone got rid of piles?

Has anyone got rid of piles? Or am I stuck with them?

I had never had them before but got them due to a long labour. My baby is 6 months now and they are still here!

Is it worth seeing the dr? And will they eventually go?

They can shrink/calm down and not everyone needs surgery. It's worth seeing a dr though, DP has them but didn't go through with the surgery and touch wood he's fine most of the time.

Changes to your diet can help things. Increased fibre, not straining, plenty of water, avoiding constipation and losing weight if you need to can help as well.

Have you tried anything? External ones are fed from internal veins so the anusol (who thinks of the name?!?!) suppositories are pretty good

Watching with interest. I've tried lots of OOTC stuff and been prescribed 2 different kinds of suppositories. Still hurts to poop! I only have one and it's just like a skin tag now but still agony.

Have you tried Anusol suppositories?

Just went to the doc about this myself, as I still have remnants of them from pregnancy/labour 6 years ago. Seems it depends on whether they are still active, with vessels you can treat, in which case you can have injections or a banding procedure that causes them to shrivel and reduce. If like me however, you essentially just have leftover baggy skin where you once had active piles that have since gone away, you have to have that excess skin cut off as banding/injections/ creams can't do anything. He said the excision involves anaesthesia more than local but less than a general and is uncomfortable for a week or so and to ideally have access to a bath or bidet during that week to soak the area as needed. The injections and banding are apparently much less of a bother. Given that I found the exam alone more awkward than being spread eagled in front of God and country during childbirth, and because they cause me no pain other than to my pride, I have decided to consider them mementos of motherhood and just leave them be! If they troubled me and were "active" though I'd do the injection or banding.

I had the very same as you bumgrape - never had them before but very very long labour resulted in them. You have my sympathy - i found them a hundred times worse than childbirth. Five years on, i have a tendency to get them if i allow my eating habits to slip. But, mostly, they've gone.

Get anusol and use it liberally. Drink LOTS of water. Have a very high fibre diet - you want your poo to be very loose indeed to minimise the pain. Get lactulose or similar if needs be (I'm pretty sure it's ok to take if breastfeeding, but obviously check that)

Have had mine for nearly 50 years (3rd baby). She got them with her 1st baby. I told her it served her right for causing mine!!

I had a haemorrhoidectomy. It was extraordinarily painful - 6 weeks off work, months of pain. It didn't solve the problem :(
