White blood cells

My SIL is 4 months preg and has had white blood cell level checked. Apparently the count should be between 4 and 11 and her result was 16 a month ago and gone up to 17 now. Docs said they not sure why and its not harming the baby, but they need to treat her with anti-biotics but cant until they know the reason her count is so high.Anyone got any experience or advice on this one? thanks x

They will probably want to get a sample of wee for a start and double check on any symptoms. More detailed bloods might be taken. It's probably just a virus or bug not doing enough to bother her but causing her body to defend itself, which is the role of the white blood cells.

she had her tonsils out beginning of year so you may be right there bout body defending itself as its usual role of tonsils isnt it? Thanks for that FFF
