Well my DM has been having a really bad time with what appears to be her muscles, which started late summer and has got worse. She has seen a consultant who is still performing tests.

He has ruled out muscle deasese (sp?) and cancer (she gets checked for all cancers regularly due to having tyroid cancer 15 years ago.
So they are still unsure what is causing the pain. I feel it may be pre menopause. She is 44. She gets the flushes and her periods are now almost non exsistant.

Anyway just wondering as she has not been given any effective pain relief whilst under investigation. I thought maybe osteopathy may help with this and wondered if anyone on MN has used this therapy and if so what were the results like?? did it help??

Thankyou

Not really the same thing, but my mum occasionally gets a back spasm thing where she can hardly stand up and is usually bed ridden for a week. The last few times she's had it, she's seen an osteopath instead and, while it hasn't taken all the pain away, it has kept her mobile and relieved a lot of the discomfort.

Either way, it's got to be worth a try, hasn't it? Have you got an osteopath nearby that's been recommended to you at all?

Yes I think I will book her in somewhere, I will speak to my gp just to see if he can recommend somewhere for her.

Just off to me mums now so will reply later.

Thanks again

Must be absolutely miserable Hope the osteopath is of some help and you manage to get in somewhere quickly.

I had osteopathy on my back, after I fell over in a bus when it braked suddenly, and I slammed into the front.
I hobbled into the osteopaths like a 90 year old, and skipped out like a spring lamb. No kidding.

I think it depends what is causing the problem, but must be worth a try.

I would definitly recommend going to an osteopath, but go in knowing that its expensive and takes time. So don't expect miricles straight away!
