I've name changed because this would identify me. I'm in my twenties with a long standing diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogren's Syndrome and neuropathy. Drs agree that I have every symptom of Polymyalgia Rheumatica but it would be incredibly rare in people my age.

I want to pay for a second opinion because I'm getting nowhere fast on the NHS. Any recommendations please? I need a real expert because of my age and symptoms. I know there is the Rheum Hospital in Bath but I'm not well enough to make the long journey right now.

Thanks.

I know this is an old post but i'm in slightly the same situation and would love to know how you got on and how are you now? I have all the symthoms of polymyalgia and my doctor diagnosed it but when I was refered to a rheumatoid clinic I was told I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and put on Methotrexate which I am on 13 weeks now and have no relief, I am due to go back to rheumatoid clinic for a review but how can I tell a Professor of rheumatology he is misdiagnosing me? In my and my doctors opinion I have Polymyalgia, I tried the steroids and got little relief. I think because the tablets aren't working that's another reason to think ive been misdiagnosed

Just to add I'm 51 and one of the reasons the professor is not going down the polymyalgia route is he says i'm too young to have it
