Just to let you all know how things are going.

Dh has now finised his first tound of chemo....well he has a few days of tablets still to take, but then we get a whole week off.

His consultant is very pleased, because the treatment seems to have stopped the tumours in his liver causing him to fill up with fliuid. She feels that this is a positive sign and is keen for him to continue with the treatment, which is new to her and well as us, cutting edge stuff. The treatment and disease both leave him very tired, but because his pain and nausea are both now well controled, we can still do things , as long as he taks things very easily.

We are not expecting too much of the treatment, is usualy gives people an extra 6 weeks, but it is helping with his quality of life, which has improved beyond measure. Our macmillan nurse....a saint and minour miracle worker.....told me that prior to this happeneing she had worried that dh wouldn't make Christmas....now she says all bets are off!

People continue to astound us. Family and friends are round, and helping, my kids in school bought us a load of christmas gifts (which made me sob). And the wonders of MN have been even kinder.....dh will post himself and thank you, wonderful, wonderful ladies later on when he is feeling up to it!

Sorry that I have been off line, our broad band gave up the ghost, and then we have spent what seems like days in hospitals and pharmacies. Thank god I used to work in Biomedicine, I couldn't cope with organising the drugs otherwise!

Life is good, people are even better and I hope you all have a wonderful chirstmas!

Thanks for the update MB. I am so pleased to hear that your DH's quality of life has improved with the treatment. It really makes a difference being able 'to do things' together when you don't have all the time in the world.

I really hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas and that your support long continues xx

Thank you so much for taking time out to keep us informed, have been thinking about you lots. Glad DH is feeling so much more comfortable, that's really good.

Your Macmillan nurse sounds brill!

Have a wonderful Christmas and my warmest wishes for the coming year.

I'm so glad to read, too, that your hospice nurse is excellent. I worked in a hospice once, and the nurses were really top notch there - all came to palliative care w/long experience, most in oncology, and were extremely dedicated to their work and to ensuring the utmost comfort and dignity to their patients and their families.
