Cileste pill - put on half a stone and lost my libido....

I have been on cileste without a break now for 4 months. I was sterilised early Nov and will have to keep taking it for a couple more months. I feel bloated and very crampy and am waiting to speak to the consultant to see if I can stop taking it sooner. I've definately put on weight and seem to have lost my sex drive. Anyone else have similar experience?

Was fine for years on it before dcs, tried to go back on it last year and felt sick as a dog. Hopefully consultant will say you can stop or swap to something else. My symptons - though different, stopped immediately.

Good luck!

I had similar symptoms to yours with another pill, cerazette. I got it changed and my current one is much better. It took me a while to shift the extra weight though!

Hurrah - consultant said I can stop taking it, am so glad thats the end of added hormones for me. I'll think of a fitness plan after xmas

Yes - I took it for 6 months and put on about a stone (started at size 10/12 and ended up 14/16). I stopped taking it and felt like a huge cloud had been lifted from my head. Best thing I ever did - that was 10 years ago and I have never been back on the pill!

By the way - forgot to add the most important fact which was that the weight dropped off v quickly afterwards! Hope the same happens for you.

I HAVE BEEN TAKING IT FOR NEARLY 6 YRS AND
i havent had a libido really for just as long!! thought i was just not into sex after having kids!

WhenSantaWentQuietlyMad · 21/12/2006 19:36

Yes - libido disappeared, although that was a bonus in a way because I was single at the time and taking them for other health reasons.

I think the libido was just part of the whole range of depressing side effects for me.

God santa! I'd only taken it for a few months - what would I not be like long term!! I've only gone from a 10 to a 12 but I feel all my clothes a bit tight - shopping in the new year??

I can't be sure why the weight dropped off so easily, but I should think if you were only a 10 to start with, you will start to notice the difference. I never really worked out whether a lot of the weight was water retention/bloating, but it did come off quick, so I suspect it was.

All very cheering I hope!

Oh Laneyday I missed my sex drive - you know its not like I've ever been jumping off the wardrobe or anything, but its more a case of knowing that it felt better before
