My two had it within two weeks of each other DS1 was coming up to 4 DS2 was just over 2.

I had it when I was 20 and was off sick for 3 weeks and Dh had it when he was late 30's.

I must say I'm glad it is over and done with.

IdrisTheRedNosedDragon · 19/12/2006 14:28

DS had it when he was 23 months
DD had it two weeks later when she was 6 weeks
both quite spotty but not too ill

NAB3 · 19/12/2006 14:31

My son had it at 3 and his sister the following month at 12 months. She suffered a lot more than he did. I had it when I was 6 or 7.

expatinscotland · 19/12/2006 14:33

Neither has had it. They are 3.5 and 1 year old.

It tends to run through the schools in Spring, so maybe they'll get it then.

LIZS · 19/12/2006 14:33

ds (8) had it at 3 , caught at nursery
dd (5) had it just before 3 , caught at preschool most likely

COPPERfeelunderSantasTOP · 19/12/2006 14:40

Ds1 had it at 4 and again a couple of weeks ago at 6.5yrs. For some reason a lot of children who had it in his class in reception have just had it again in Yr2.

Ds2 had it at 18mths (same time as ds1) and has just had it again at nearly 4yrs old.

Dd has just had it at nearly 9mths.

I think we've had your dd's share of the spots, Anniebear!

NAB3 · 19/12/2006 14:47

My son had it twice too. The first time very very mildly though.

serenitynightholynight · 19/12/2006 14:55

I haven't had it yet and I'm 35!

DCs had it this summer. DS1(8) went down with it on the way back from Wales. DS2(6) and DD(2.5) got it two weeks later, the day after school started .....I wasn't very popular! None of them were that ill, DS1 had about 20/30 spots, the other two maybe twice that. The worst was DD but that was because the spots in her vagina got infected which was very painful.

anniebear · 19/12/2006 19:42

When I had it at 21 I had spots everywhere!

It left me drained for a few weeks afterwards also

I had it at 26 - I was 26 weeks pg too. it was vile!

SpicymulledSheraz · 19/12/2006 20:22

It is a horrible illness, in Australia they vaccinate against it. DS2 had it a 9 weeks and was plastered he looked like hae had been burnt all over, couldn't even put a nappy on him. Maked me fill up just thinking about it. Wish they vaccinated here.

kittyschristmascrackers · 19/12/2006 20:41

4 out of 5 have had it, no problems, didn't even take to the docs.

Posey · 19/12/2006 20:43

Dd had it at 7, ds at 14 months. He was covered. Spent half the day in a tepid bath to get some relief

BettySpaghetti · 19/12/2006 20:44

I had it when I was 18 and nannying for the summer before going to uni.

DD (7) had it when she was 14m

DS is 2.5 and hasn't had it (yet)

suedonim · 19/12/2006 22:27

Ds1 and ds2 had it two weeks apart when they were 8yrs and 4yrs old.

Dd1 didn't get it until she was 14. It went through her school several times over the years but when she eventually went down with CP there were no other cases in our area. She gave it to dd2 who was 4yo. Both dd's were due to be bridesmaids at a v good friend's wedding. Dd1 was rather poorly but luckily dd2 had it pretty mildly and they both managed to make it to the wedding.

nutcracker · 19/12/2006 22:29

Dd's had it when they were 4 and 2 but Ds who is 4, has not yet had it.

I really want him to have it before he starts school next year.

kid · 19/12/2006 22:30

DD had it a couple of weeks ago, she is almost 8.
DS 4.8 sort of had it. When I say sort of, he got 3 spots, does that count?!

Heathcliffscathy · 19/12/2006 22:30

yes. ds (3) had it a few months ago. the worst bit is meant to be before the spots but the first we knew about it was the spots (altho i should have bloody known because i purposely took him to see CD's dd in order to get it.

he was fine. he has no scars at all. i think they younger they are the less chance of that.

2000milestoeidsvold · 19/12/2006 22:31

dd1 is now 4 and had it at about 18 months

dd2 is 2 and not had it although has been vaccinated against it.

never too old, old flatmate of mine was 24 when she got them.

jabberwocky · 19/12/2006 22:32

We're in the US so ds1 had the vaccine. I was torn about whether or not to get it (vax) but it does reduce his risk of getting shingles. Not sure if he will need a booster later in life or not.

WigWamBam · 19/12/2006 22:38

Dd is 5.5 and has somehow managed to miss it. It swept through her pre-school several times, Reception several times, and there's been two rounds of it in Year 1 so far - she is one of very few children left in Year 1 who hasn't had it yet.

FairytaleOfNewNORKSBRIDE · 19/12/2006 22:41

All 3 DCs had it this time last year - DD1 was 4, hardly had a spot and only spent one day lying on sofa. Two weeks later DS1, aged 3, and DD2 aged 2, had it - lots of spots & itching, v. high temperatures, really ill for over a week. Luckily, DH & I had it as children.

Glad we've all had it now. It was miserable!

WigWamBam · 20/12/2006 16:58

Can I retract my post saying that dd had managed to miss it? I spoke too soon; she's come home from school today covered in spots.

Ho hum ... I'm dreaming of a poxy Christmas ...

hoxtonchick · 20/12/2006 17:13

ds had it age 3.5, the week before dd was born (i really enjoyed that ). he was miserable for 2 nights & the day inbetween.

dd (18 months) hasn't had it yet. though she had a pretty good exposure a couple of weeks ago so i'm hoping she'll succumb pretty soon as we've all got 2 weeks off now .

anniebear · 20/12/2006 18:01
