Is this sinusitis?

Had a horrid cold, now over it. But I have a near-continual mild to moderate headache, on one side, in my forehead, really. And my upper teeth on the same side, hurt, particularly if I go over a bump on the bike. (I do have a possibly dodgy crown on that side, but it isn't tender or loose.)

If this is sinusitis, are there treatment options? I don't like taking antihistamines while awake (they make me angry, dunno why), should I be taking the drowsy ones at night? Even though sinus pain is better then?

I find that a steam inhalation with Karvol (or Olbas but I find that a bit strong) really eases a sinus headache for a few hours. I haven't tried it but a few people have said the the headache stick (4head?) is good too.

I'm not sure that my teeth ever hurt with sinusitis, but I do get a lot of pressure behind my cheekbone, just above my teeth.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Oh, I'll try those. I know they're not advised with asthma, but my asthma is pretty mild ...

Sounds like it could be - you can get referred dental pain with it. Try things like Olbas Oil to help decongest.

Recently I've also had a good result with Potters cattargh (sp?) pastilles. I tried them initially to shift the cattargh in my broncial tubes, but the vapours loosened everything up including my sinuses. They taste vile though.

NQC - I have suffered badly with sunusitis before and it was really nasty. My headache was quite bad and came on at about 11.30am every day for about 4 days, (over Xmas so didn't go to the doctors), but was on the top rhs of my head rather than the forehead. My back teeth on the right hand side hurt so bad I went to the emergency dentist - who got me to bend forward, my head really hurt and he diagnosed sinusitis. Something apparently touches the nerve endings in your jaw that affect your back teeth, thus feeling like toothache.

I couldn't take antibiotics as I was about 12 weeks pregnant, (the ones used for this are not suitable for early pregnancy), but are what is needed otherwise. The antihistamine spray however did do the trick for me.

Suggest going to the docs, don't let it get any worse, especially this near to Xmas.

NQC anti histamines never helped for me with sinitus, i think there are more for hayfever. sinitus can be a serious infection and you will need an anti b.
sounds like you need a doc to look at it.

mild sinus pain is usally remedied with over the counter stuff thats why i'd go to the doc.
avoid red wine it excerbates it.

Hmmm, the pain is pretty minor atm. I'll see how it goes - if it doesn't improve by tomorrow, I'll go see a doc, maybe. It's certainly not severe at this point - it's more troubling me because I keep thinking the crown has gone wrong, when it evidently hasn't.

The headache might even be a bit better than it was yesterday. It's more of a niggling annoying thing than an "oh my god, please cut my head off" sort of deal, iyswim ...
