Illness before the chicken pox spots?

DS an DD played with a little boy last weekend who developed chicken pox during the week. DD and DS are now running a fever and generally feeling unwell. In your experience is this how chicken pox starts or do the spots come first?

Just wondering if we are going to have a spotty Christmas!!!!

I think it may be the start, but i didnt realise my ds was ill until the spots appeared, after that he had slight temp and was slightly off colour - although apart from the spots he was ok really - hope your two are ok

Thanks for sharing your experiences - DD now has a very red throat so wondering if it's more like a case of tonsilitis.

it's only contagious a day or two before spots appear (when they may seem otu fo sorts) and then takes at least 10 days to appear so probably a coincidence.
