Diagnose my stomach cramps!

Suddenly got stomach cramps last night and wonder if anyone has had anything similar. I seem to remember getting cramps like these a few years ago too.

Intense cramps, quite high up, in the middle, under rib cage. Had the urge to go to the loo after not passing stools all day, and although I wasn't straining that much, it was coming out slowly and in phases. Then I felt very nauseous, to the point my mouth was full of saliva but no vomiting/retching. Drenched in sweat. Whole thing was about an hour long until it died down and I fell asleep. Took some Gaviscon half way through, not sure if that helped.

I wondered if I was just constipated but I've been constipated before and not had anything like this.

Not going out today as planned as it involves a long journey. Feel ok although a little sensitive in the stomach area.

Did you eat a lot yesterday by any chance? Rich food that you don't normally eat?If you were already constipated, it probably got things moving. Unlikely to be a bug if you're ok now.

Oh yes forgot to mention about food. I was feeling quite bloated yesterday and didn't eat as much as I normally do! Nothing particularly rich. I'm vegan so not a lot of food can affect me negatively in general anyway.

When I had gall stones I had what you described. Intense pain under the middle of my chest sweating and vomiting. How do you feel now op?

Do you eat Quorn? I used to eat a lot of it but stopped when I found myself suffering with the most debilitating stomach pains (worse than labour). Just a thought as you say you're vegan. If you google Quorn stomach cramps there's a lot of tales of this symptom. I stopped eating Quorn and never suffered with it again.

I feel ok today thanks Cocacola, a little tender but ok. I've just looked it up and my symptoms are exactly those of gall stones - thanks for that!

I used to eat a lot of Quorn emsyj but not since becoming vegan a year ago as Quorn contain eggs. My son eats a lot of Quorn though so interesting to know.

Gallstones would be my guess too - my symptoms were exactly the same and the pain was like nothing I've ever experienced before. I went years between attacks before it started happening every time I ate. I'm now 3 months post-gallbladder removal and it's bliss. Hope you're feeling okay today and don't suffer again.

I'm not a doctor, but sincerely believe that one should never underestimate the much misunderstood and exceptionally painful condition commonly known as "trapped wind."

Sounds very very very much like my gallstone attacks- the bloating got worse too over time until I was very uncomfortable. I'm day 3 after having my gallbladder removed!

Did you cook dinner?

any chance someone sneaked in some hidden meat that perhaps didn't go down to well

When ive had pain like this it's been due to taking tablets too close to bedtime.....literally swallow tablets and lie down in bed. Can guarantee I will be in agony like that within an hour.......no poo symptoms though. But the central pain under rib cage, sweats I get.

Glad your feeling better op. I had months of attacks after having my son. Was told postnatal changes each time. Until I went to a GP crying and exhausted and poor liver function. Who in a week had scan and diagnosis. If it happens again I would see GP
I found a bland very low fat achohol kept things calm until my op, which was 4 weeks ago.
