Have realised this morning that my being ill yesterday and today is because I am due on and this is with me already being on the pill.

It's just getting silly, had to ring xp to sit with Ds yesterday cos of the cramps and sickness etc.

I have been to the gp and I take ponstan now which sometimes helps sometimes not.

I never used to get period pain when on the pill but now I do, have tried changing pill and it got worse.

Many years ago I did once have the contraceptive injection but i vowed i'd never take it again as it made me feel so tired and sick for the 3mths.

Question is, is the injection still the same ? I seem to remember there being 2 ?
It is ideal from a no periods point of view for me, as i'd get no pain but if it's still gonna make me ill I dunno.

i had depo injection which i didnt realise i had problems with until i stopped having it, but when i was having it i had no periods at all, i dont know about there being 2, maybe you are thinking of the implants?? maybe try it again, if it does make you ill the dont go back and have anymore.

nutcracker · 15/12/2006 13:58

Can i ask what problems you had after you stopped it ???

I did find it took about 6mths for my periods to return and then took longer to concieve ds than my other 2.

I am on the depo injection. I had it after birth of dS2 as could not handle period pains and also had pains in between

I get this injection every 8 weeks, there is another you have every 12 weeks. My friend is also on depo, the only problem she had with it was bleeding for first 6 weeks.

I had slight spotting when I had my first jag but this seemed to taper out with the next one, it seems to be okay for me, although I have gained a little bit of weight. This could also be middle-aged spread though

nutcracker · 15/12/2006 14:04

LOL Mellowma

I don't think I put weight on with it last time, can't remember, it was about 6 years ago.

I also get pains in between periods too and I just can't be doing with it, especially now i am on my own, just can't be that ill that often.

I think i'll have to make an appointment and go and speak to someone about it.

I had the 3 year implant last May where they put it into your upper arm and had no periods for about 4 months. then i was on/off for 2 months and my cycles settled after 10 months. Regular 3/4 weeks now tho someone i know has no periods at all and as she had bad pmt thats great for her. I get a bit of cramping but not much PMT tho was lucky didnt suffer much anyway. I've heard Evening Promrose Oil tablets are a help if you suffer badly. Dunno if that helps!

corrina28 · 15/12/2006 14:05

i had slight spotting when i had it but nothing else where as my sister BLED constantly for bout 6 months. I had 1st injection after having ds1 and came off it when we decided to try for ds2, i was very dry, intercourse was virtually impossible without me in tears after, but once i had come off injection it stopped, i had always put it down to the way my body was after having ds1 and i was the same as you took bout 6 months to concieve (even tho i never actually had period)

mamijacacalys · 15/12/2006 14:11

Ditto Happymumof5. Have Implanon (implant)in upper arm and have had no probs so far.

nutcracker · 15/12/2006 14:11

Ahhh I had the dryness problem too, how could I have forgotten that.

The possibilty of bleeding is putting me off too as at the mo my periods are so light they are barely there at all.

Perhaps I will try yet another pill first instead.

Just want it all really, hardley and bleeding and minimal pain, I mean not even being able to stand up to brush my teeth is just not on.

Can you feel the implant ??

I actually read something the other day about someone with sore painful periods and the advice was for her to go on the pill and take the packets back to back without a break.

There are specially forumlated pills onthe market especially for doing this. May be worth asking about.

I cant seem to stop getting my injections, every time I get a glimmer of a period pain I go get another jag

Addicted to depo WTF!

nutcracker · 15/12/2006 14:25

That is what I have been doing this time MM. I didn't ask if I could tbh, just got that scared of the pain at the end of my first pack that I carried on and then have only had a break now as I have run out.

I will try and get in to the doctors on Monday and see what they suggest. The pill I am on now is even worse than the last one, doesn't lessen the pain at all.

i found the same thingwhen i went on the pill, suffered painful periods since i was 10 and they only time they stopped was when i was pregnant and on depo injection, but since i have had ds2 i have had no real problems, have the occasional month where it is bad but overall nothing too painful.

MerryMellowmas · 15/12/2006 14:31

I can sympathise it is such an awful pain too isn't it.

It's not so bad when you are young and have no dc to run around after but a real PITA when you do and feel like crap and cannot just take to your bed for few days.

Hope you get something sorted.

nutcracker · 15/12/2006 14:32

Thanks all, it's just such a bloody pain isn't it.

I don't actually need to be using contraception at the mo but just cannot cope with nothing at all to lessen the pain.

Oh well will have a think over the weekend.

HAPPYMUMOF5 · 15/12/2006 14:35

Yes, you can feel the implant but its very discreet under the skin on the inside of the upper arm. If like me you have plenty of "chunk" there then its only just felt!

admylin · 15/12/2006 14:53

I've never tried any implants or injections but with my pill (yasmin) i get reall ylight periods that last 2 to 3 days and I used to suffer with alot of pain even in my legs.
How much do you pay for the injections? Would a GP do one or does it have to be at a gynocologist?

corrina28 · 15/12/2006 16:11

dont pay for injections have them done at fpc
