I have took a lovely big chunk out of my heel on a nail this morning (the cut is about the size and depth of a skittle, sorry can't think of anything else lol) i don't think i have had a tetanus, do i need one desperately? Or do you think i will be ok?

TIA

If it is a deep cut, and the top healed over quickly, with little bleeding, then you should get it checked. The bacteria that causes tetanus thrives in puncture wounds that have little or no air getting to them.

Don't worry, it is very unlikley that you will have a problem, but it would be wise to get it checked out.

Thanks MB, funnily enough for such a deep cut it didn't bleed much at all, this maybe tmi but the piece of skin i have just left on iykwim, i put some germoline (sp?) on and a plaster. It is quite a big chunk that has come away though, i am not squeamish at all but i felt it rip
