ovarian cysts

Hi, I posted on here a week or so ago about pain in my pelvic area and I wasn't sure if it had anything to do with my sterilization a few weeks earlier.

Anyway, I went to docs, who examined me and took swabs, etc. Then she sent me for an emergency scan. At the scan, they found I had a cyst on my ovary, and everything was fine with my sterilization. So I asked if this could be causing the pain I am in, and she didn't think so, but said the doctor will have the results in a couple of days.

My question is, can a cyst cause pain??? Bit of a long post for such a short question

An ovarian cyst can cause pain. You ought to be referred to a gynaecologist. You should be told as well what type of cyst it is (there are a few).

Thanks. I thought they can cause pain, but wasn't completely sure. I'm assuming my doctor will refer me to a gynecologist, but will have to see what she says when I go for appt.
