No, you should be 48 hours clear of symptoms before returning to work. Plus, I know I probably wouldn't feel well enough/awake enough to deal with work if I'd been up in the night.

if you feel like shit then stay home.
if you sort of feel ok apart from the consistency I would go in.
take antibac wipes to clean the toilet after you used it.

Better to leave a colleague alone than to pass on a stomach bug surely? They wouldn't thank you for that. I'd stay home.

By diarrhoea do you mean on and off the loo or do you mean 2 loose episodes ( one yesterday and once today) , if the former stay at home if the latter go to work .

c) I don't want to pass it on to anyone else

Stealth I wouldn't thank anyone at work for coming in with diarrhoea. It is a rather selfish thing to do.

No, for one thing it's best to stay away from people for at least 24 hours, also if you have it in the morning chances are you will have it again later. The shits at work? No thanks.

I had to take 2 days off with it. I felt perfectly well enough to work and it wasn't happening much, but I work in a hospital so I could not go in for 48 hours.

It just means that I will now need a meeting as it takes me to three sick days in my probation period.

If i thought it was a bug - then would perhaps stay at home for the day.

If it was just an odd foodstuff that had made me 'go' (oily food does this to me) then i might pop an immodium and get off.

I can understand why schools insist on the 48 hour rule - but maybe that is down to small DC not being the best at handwashing? If you are an adult you would wash your hands thoroughly after - well, everything. Thus avoiding infecting your colleagues.

I just wouldn't want the indignity of having diarrhoea at work.
