Shingles in children

im worried about my 4 month old baby girl having chicken pox, my 2 and a half year old boy plays alot with a friend that has just got it!my son has already had it, but is my 4 month old in any kind of danger because she is too young?

One of mine had it at only 10 weeks old, another had it at a year, they both got through it with no problems.

My son had shingles at 18 months - although at the time he was very run-down He had huge ezcema flare-ups and for several months he had coughs/chest infections on and off.

Glad to say he got over the shingles with no problems - and his health now, at nearly 6, is A1

Both GP and I were surprised he got shingles at all as he caught chicken pox VERY mildly (only 3 spots!) at 3 weeks old from older sister. GP had told me that as his CP was so mild, he was very likely to get it again!

Slinky, I wonder if it to do with the age they get it? Dd2 was the one who had cp at 10 weeks, then she got a nasty bout of shingles when she was 5. Docs were surprised she had it at her age.

This is very timely.
I think my 3yo daughter may have shingles right now..
She had very mild chickenpox at just a few weeks old.

Out of interest.... what is "mild" chicken pox?
Hope she isn't too poorly

Thanks Lou, she seems fine,just had one large and a few small vesicles behind her shoulder.
Pupuce when she was just a few weeks old her brother (then 20m) had a fairly bad attack of chickenpox; she caught it at the same time but just had a few spots and I was told that breastfeeding was offering her some protection against a more severe attack.
