Dd is 20 weeks old,and has had 4 attacks of sticky eye. They always come on after she has cried a lot.

Gp says they will get better with no treatment, and it seems they do disappear after about 3 weeks. However dd is always rubbing affected eye. Any advice?

Are you feeding her yourself? If so, a bit of breast milk on the sore bit works wonders

This could just be that her tear ducts haven't yet opened up properly. This was the case with my d1 and dd. Lasted about 4m with ds1 and over 6m for dd. Just keep her eyes scrupulously clean - you don't need to use boiled water, fresh tapwater or bathwater will do, but make sure to wipe away from the nose and not to use the same piece of cottonwool or facecloth for both eyes. Breastmilk is very good, too.
