Bumped head - should I complain?

ds came home today with a big lump on his head after another child ran into him.
His bumped head letter just tells me that he bumped his head and was fine.
Is this normal or should a cold compress have been put on it?
ds tells me that no teachers put anything on his head

He should have been looked at at school and the first aider would make a decision about what do do about it in school.

My school, and schools in my area, must send a letter home to let a parent know about a bump on the head-no matter how serious or not.

I would say much the same. The school has to inform you of a bumped head, but the first aider will assess the situation at the time and decide whether it warrants a compress of further treatment.
