DD has got a terrible hacking cough and has been havin coughing fits that make her sick(phlem)took her to doc's last friday and they said it was a nasty cough but viral. It seems to be getting worse and poor DD is unable to sleep it's just cough, cough, cough all night.
Do i take her back or do you agree that its just viral and if so how long is it expected to last?

My dd has the same.took her to see nurse yesterday and we were told that this particular virus seems to be taking 3 weeks to clear, she's had it for 2.She gave me a presciption for antibiotics incase she got worse ,so I think maybe you should go and get her seen again.

I was just about to post something similar!

DD2 (9months) had a really scary croupy sounding cough, where she was struggling to breathe and clear the phlegm. The doctor rather naughtily gave us antibiotics "just in case", and although we took the whole course religiously, she still has the cough after 2 full weeks. It has been getting slightly better throughout, but still making her sick if she gets into a crying/coughing fit.

Now dd1(3) has got the same cough and has been really ill along with shivering, temperature and delirious episodes.

I think this is going round because there are loads of people dropping out of the toddler group and preschool "loop".

I have hardly been out of the house for about 2 weeks.

I might try and get her seen again today just to be on the safe side she's lookin rather pale and has got bags under her eyes. fingers crossed she will feel better its her christmas play tonight she will be gutted if she cant do it.

Well I don't want to worry any of you but there is one doing the rounds in Cambridge area and has been called "the 100 day cough" becasue that is how long it lasts. However, this seems to only affect adults that I know and is more a tickly persistant one than the ones you are describing.
Hope all the little ones improve.
