Sorry this is a long post but I need to get this off my chest. My dad was diagnosed with a squamous cell in his nose 4 years a ago. The derm originally removed without a biopsy as he thought it was a basal cell so he had to endure a second bigger op with skin grafts. Then about 18 months ago he found a lump in his nose. His GP dismissed as a cyst even though he knew his history. He tried to persuade him to get a second opininon but he didn't. Then 6 months ago he decided the lump was getting better so went back to GP and he agreed to refer him. 6 weeks went by and he didn't hear anything. He checked with Drs surgery and they had cocked up and not sent through to Hospital. He had to wait another 6 weeks. A month ago he saw a surgeon who thought it was scar tissue inside nose from skin grafts and removed it without doing a biopsy first. Friday he was told that it was a squamous cell and tomorrow he has an appointment with a derm, surgeon and oncologist. Mum and Dad very scared but I am trying to remain positive. Do you think I have good reason to complain about treatment? Anyone any experience of this and what his options are?
