Cerazette not good for me, so what are my other options?

Would the medicated coil, implant and injection be the same?

I've been on it nearly a month but I've had 2 bleeds and honestly it's made me extra moody and a bit down. After another day of snapping at DH I've just googled and see this is a common side effect especially as I've been depressed in the past.

Life is pretty good, technically I should be happy and content, great DH, lovely dc's, nice home, exciting job, fab friends, holidays in the horizon etc but feeling so berluddy blah....

Should we just go back to condoms, mind you libido is pretty low so not sure why I'm on the pill... Or does DH go for the snip? I'm over 40 btw so combined pill (which worked well for me) not an option.

Cerazette went badly for me in the end. Horribly ragey and awful.

Mirena coil has been good for 2 years but definitely doesn't suit everyone.

If you have no risk factors e.g. Overweight, high blood pressure, smoker, etc then the combined pill is a valid option over the age of 40. There are other mini pills too that can be tried first as they have different active ingredients.

Who can use the combined pill

If there are no medical reasons why you cannot take the pill and you do not smoke, you can take the pill until your menopause. However, the pill is not suitable for all women. To find out whether the pill is right for you, talk to your GP, practice nurse or pharmacist.

You should not take the pill if you:

are pregnant
smoke and are 35 or older
stopped smoking less than a year ago and are 35 or older
are very overweight
take certain medicines (ask your GP about this)

You should also not take the pill if you have (or have had):
thrombosis (a blood clot)

a heart abnormality or heart disease, including high blood pressure
severe migraines, especially with aura (warning symptoms)
breast cancer
disease of the gallbladder or liver
diabetes with complications or diabetes for the past 20 years

Interesting, thanks but my nurse just won't give it to me as I'm 44, her reasoning! Can I demand it?

Maybe she is unaware of current nhs guidelines. Why not look it up and print it and ask why she won't prescribe it for you.
