Verruca or callus? (Sorry, there's a picture too)

My daughter has what I think is a verruca or callus. What do you think? It's circular with a whole in it ( like a donut), and the skin around the circle is hard. It's the size of a drawing pin head. She finds it painful to walk on it. No black dots that I can see.
Seems a bit ott to take her to the GP, I am hoping to try chemist products first.

My son gets the same thing on the ball of his foot, I treat it as a corn and get corn cushions from the chemist. More advice here... www.nhs.uk/conditions/cornsandcalluses/pages/whatarecornsandcalluses.aspx

It is a verucca. GPs don't really do anything with them these days other than say leave it alone it will go away - which it may or may not do (we are usually talking a few years!). If constantly painful I would consider going to a chiropodist but basically show her how to foot file and do that for a while to reduce it and then consider off the shelf products via pharmacy but they are basically an acid applied which destroys the area.

They are weird things - they are a virus, and if your immune system is low you can be more vulnerable to them as well.

Sounds strange but I find gaffer tape on top of the bazuka product and then a plaster over top of that and change every day. But others swear by Vicks! Banana skin, marigold extract and all sorts - million and one things to try
