Folic Acid in children

Ds is 13 and takes melatonin to aid with his sleep. He has cerebral palsy with dystonia and the melatonin really helps him sleep. His paediatrician is recommending a one month wash out (which I agree with), however I will need to give him another tablet to make him think he is still having it, sneaky of me I know but if he thinks he hasn't had it he definitely won't sleep. I take folic acid once a week to combat the side effects of methotrexate and have just noticed the folics look a lot like melatonins. Would it harm him if I gave him folic during the wash out to make him think he is still having mela?
