Anyone had a pelvic avulsion fracture?

Hi, I have just been diagnosed with a pelvic avulsion fracture on the lowest part of the back of my pelvis - basically at the back of my bottom. It was caused by a massive trip back in June when I tripped on an uneven kerb and wrenched my leg, but doctor thought problem was muscular and have only just had X-ray. It is very painful and sitting is agony. I've been advised to avoid sitting and walking and to stand or lie down. It's been 10 weeks since the accident and I feel that there should have been more bone healing by now. The pain improved over the first few weeks but then plateaued and now it might be getting worse... It's certainly not getting better. Any tips for things I can do to help myself? Have I made things worse by sitting on it for 10 weeks (it was painful, but the pain is pretty widespread into my back and hip so it was hard to know which bit to try to protect prior to the diagnosis). I am off to look for a rubber ring tomorrow to see if that helps. I am supposed to be on a 2.5 hr flight in just over a week - going to 'visit' DH who has just started work in another country. Don't know how I will get through it as I really can't sit upright for more than 10 mins without the pain becoming excruciating. Thanks for any help!
