Hi. What can I give my baby for constipation? The nurse recommend brown sugar in warm water which I did try and he immediately spat it out.

Do you know if I can give him lactolose? or is he too young?

He's crying and straining when he tries to poo.

Prune juice?

Lots of fresh fruit?

If you give him straight fibre, it might make things worse, he needs fluid and fibre to clear things ...

when ds2 suffered with constipation, he was eating loads of fruit veg and most other things andhe aslo drank a lot of fluids, but doctor said that he was just one of those children that suffered with it.

I would try stewed prunes?? Gave to dd1 when she got a biy bunged up, she quite enjoyed it as goes all sweet and sticky, that an a little fresh orange juice in water i found helped!! Good luck

I would try as much mango as he can eat to debung him. Then give him some tinner (or fresh) pineapple rings each day. These are great for helping to soften poo.

Poor lad, hope he is better soon.

It can be sooooooo upsetting. We had some terrible contipation episodes! My dd became progressively constipated from a year old. Despite having a good diet fruit, veg etc and drinking lots couldn't get her going. Eventually worked out that cows milk bunged her up (She was having whole cows milk at that stage) and had been tbf before. Don't know if it's relevant but after she started on soya milk she was as regular as clock work. Hope you get it sorted out soon.
