lost sense of smell

I have had a cold for about 2 weeks which has led to sinus infection ( blocked nose, head pain) I like to avoid antibiotics ( always get thrush) so I have not gone to the doctors . The symptoms seem to naturally receding now but I have no sense of smell. Cant smell anything at all even a squirt of perfume right under my nose or small boys pants picked off the bedroom floor( this could be a blessing in a disguise !) will it come back or do I need to see a doctor

I lost my smell and sense of taste one summer for about 3 weeks - it came back all by itself - I'd give it a bit longer

I would give it a bit longer and then, if it hasn't come back, go to your GP. Loss of smell can indicate a deeper problem and can also lead to lack of taste.

I've lost mine for a few days when I have a bad cold. It's miserable as there is no pleasure in eating. Try something to clear sinuses - steam or over counter medicine?

Thanks all, will give it a few days and then see the doctor. Using a saline sinus rinse which is producing spectacular amounts of snot but no sense of smell yet. Its very depressing, food tastes like cardboard and can't tell if things are clean and fresh!
