Have just had ds weighed for the first time in several weeks and he has dropped from the 75th centile to the 50th. He's 10.5 months and now weighs almost 22lbs. The hv didn't seem unduly concerned and put it down to the fact that he is now crawling (at top speed!), pulling himself up, cruising etc etc and generally never sitting still for one minute! But of course I can't help being a bit concerned and my mum has gone into a blind panic and is convinced he's about to waste away

I know weight gain slows down around this time but since he's always been a good 'gainer' (didn't even lose an ounce in the days after birth) it just seems a bit strange. Is there anything I could do to make sure he doesn't drop any further? He eats three good meals a day, two snacks and has 3 milk feeds - can I do anymore or am I being paranoid?!

Sounds just fine to me. It will be because he's now more mobile.

Just checked their red books and all 3 of mine weighed just under 22lbs at 10 mths too.

Sounds absolutely fine to me!

Just to put it into perspective - my DD2 (now 4.5) weighed 23lb at her 2 year check!

yep, my 2 yr 4 month dd weighs just 22lb at the moment- can't see it's a problem. Stop weighing him!

My ds is 15 months and doesn't weigh 22lbs. I wouldn't worry if he's happy and eating well. He certainly isn't wasting away.

Sounds good to me. My dd also weighs only about 10/11 kg at 32 months ! Both mine levelled off between 8 and 12 months because they started to crawl, cruise and walk.

Dd weighs 22 lbs at 19 months. She was always around the 50th centile on the chart but went slowly down to the 25th around 1 year old. Part of it was because she was more active, part of it was because of being such a fussy eater and part of it was also I'm sure because of her beginning to find the sort of build she is likely to be which I think is quite petite. My SIL's little boy was absolutely huge at about 4 months old, weighed around 20 lbs but now he's just gone 2 and is about the same size as my dd. But he's fine.

thanks everyone!

He's such a healthy and happy little fella that I couldn't really believe there was a problem but thought I'd test your wisdom and set my mind at rest anyhow. Cheers all.
