Hi. Can't really answer about the soya milk but just bumping for you as my DS is lactose intolerant. He's 3 now and drinks rice milk but let me know if you want any advice on recipes, where to get dairy free foods etc.

bananaloaf - please don't let your doc prescribe soya milk even if he tries to - take ths article with you if you need it as back up.

There are several other specialist milks available on prescription.

Why does your gp think it's lactose intolerance rather than cows milk protein, which is more common?

Are the poos his only symptom?

bananaloaf · 22/11/2006 20:15

hi thanks for replying i have been given a prescription for peptid junior hypo-allergenic formula. his poos are the only symptom so the doc thought that we would try him on that for two weeks to see how it went. i stoped bf about 6 weeks ago cos ds2 bit me and that was that and he wonders rather than being allergic to lactose he wondered whether ds2 is just not made the transistion well and needs someting else. i am not really up to speed on these as it never crossed my mind that the milk could be the prob
