Have changed my name for this as I find it extremely embarrassing and hard to come to terms with at the moment.
My GP had just told me today that I may have a condition called Lichen, and when I looked it up I appear to have textbook symptoms of lichen sclerosus . Anyone know anything about this, is it something to worry about? It's really upset me because I felt for some time that parts of me were just "shrivelling away", but it seems that's part of this condition! If noone wants to respond for obvious reasons I'll understand, I just thought it may help to know I'm not the only one (perhaps I am!). TIAx

hi, i am not a sufferer, but have just looked it up and from what i have read it seems that it is easily treatable.
has your gp started you on medication or told you anything about it?

Thanks for looking it up, that was really kind! The GP just said "ooh, it looks like........" which has been completely backed up by what I've read subsequently, and referred me to gynae saying that depending on their waiting list she may ask for me to be seen as an emergency and that I'd need a biopsy, particularly when I said I'd had the symptoms for two months. I think I've just scared myself silly reading tales of reconstructive surgery and increased risk of cancer.

oh I can't stand GP's who tell you you might have something but don't tell you anything about it.
I hope you get your appt with the Gyn through soon though and it all turns out ok

Thanks hairymclary. Now there's a sentence I never thought I'd write!
