nettle sting type rash

DD came up in a really strange nettle sting type rash on Sunday, clusters of pale raised blotches and very red surrounding area. Dropped in to see a doctor and they gave her piriton and it went really quickly. It's flared up twice today. Yesterday it was on hands and face, today just hands and feet, but with one big white wheel stripe on the back of her arm. Sure it's an allergy, but NO idea what. Anyone had similar?

I too have this and have had it for 10 years..i was diagnosed with urticaria which i have since found out is quite common but unless treated can be a nightmare as it becomes very itchy and the more you itch the more it spreads. I have had test after test and never found out the cause of my rash they say it could just be adust mite or have even suggested it be DH as 10 years ago was when we met ( how funny is that allergic to my own hubby) My treatment for this is adaily anti-histimine plus 6 monthly steroid injections and when times are really bad i have steroid tablets for a week......so make sure you push your doctors for teatment as this can be ignored and its very uncomfotable

dd had something like that a couple of weeks ago, Nettle type rash on her face and the tops of her arms, took her to gp who said it was excema! nothing like it in my opinion so i just gave her piriton for a couple of days and it cleared up very odd though.

DS2 has been getting this intermittently for the last 5 weeks or so. The GP said unless it got very serious it would be difficult to isolate exactly what was causing it. His comes up at all sorts of times - sometimes after food, sometimes after a hot bath, sometimes after running around, sometimes just while sitting down. I have Piriton too, but his usually goes within an hour anyway.

Thanks for replies. It definitely souns like urticaria, thanks for that. I've got a doctors ap't on Thursday, and may try to get some allergy testing done.
Tottle, funny you may be allegic to DH, what a nightmare. Sounds like a nightmare for you though. With the steroids and anti-histimines does it feel a lot more managable?

it is a lot more managable with all the medication but can still be a nightmare, really hope you sort things out with the doctor
