What to expect at pelvic floor referral?

Since DS was born 15 months ago i've had a rubbish PF. I can't run or jump or sneeze without leaking, and constantly feel as though i need a wee.
Having read lots of threads on here, and lots of great advice (thankyou brave mumsnetters and the formidable gussiegrips) I got a referral from the gp to see a gynaecology consultant at the hospital, and my appointment is this afternoon.
Has anyone had one of these appointments? Can you give me any idea of what to expect? I'm feeling a little anxious as i have no idea.
Also if anyone else is having/has had similar problems and wants to chat, please jump in!

Hi curls, after 3 (large) DC and 5 years of putting up with it, I took the plunge and got referred too. Had my first (and so far only) appointment a couple of weeks ago. My appointment was an hour long with a lovely physio, and focused on taking a really detailed history and understanding of current conditions. The policy in my nhs area is not to do an exam on the first appointment as many women are nervous enough already about the whole thing, so that's saved too the second appointment. The physio then talked through what the next appointment would be like - an exam, then being hooked up to a machine to test function. Really looking forward to that Hmm but needs must.

I personally founds it pretty nerve wracking, but to be fair I've been denying for ages that I had a problem so it was a big step for me to go and they couldn't have been lovelier.

Oh wow, thankyou for sharing. Although none of us would like to be in this position, that sounds like a great appointment. I really hope that mine is as thorough as that, as one of my silly worries is that they will take a quick look at me, tell me i need to do more exercises and send me away.
(I have no idea where that thought comes from as i've been lucky enough only to ever have great care from the NHS)
I'm mentally gearing up for physical examination today, but it would be nice to put it off!
