How long is the NHS wait for a vasectomy? And how much does it cost if you go private?

And anything else I can tell my dh to encourage him to let a man with a scalpel near his bits?

TIA

he couldn't face the cleaning lady giving him sympathetic looks while he was languishing in bed, so he has told everyone he had a hernia repaired... ds2 is telling people that daddy is a LITTLE bit sick, but not very sick, and he has adult calpol from the doctor.

apparently only 1 in 20 have to be knocked out half way through because their bits are not presenting themselves nicely, so I think he was VERY unlucky!!!

PPH, the nips line is an excellent one, and shall save it for use when (hopefully) my dh is in the same position as yours.

Atm dh is resisting the notion, or rather refusing to think about it on the grounds that he's 'very busy at work at the moment', and that he might want to run the marathon at some indeterminate point in the future, and that a vasectomy might interfere with his hypothetical training schedule (arf). But I've got as far as making a GP appt to get the coil removed, as I'm sick of bleeding like some kind of biblical plague every month. I'm hoping that a close encounter with a condom will concentrate dh's mind on the notion that the snip is the only way forward.

So massive congrats to MrPeahead on taking the plunge.

lololol at hypothetical training schedule!
book him in for the day after the london marathon, tell him that will give him a good 6 mths to recover before taking up his training...

mrpeahead was apparently told by all the nurses that he was a good brave man and not many men would agree to do what he was going to do.
which was sort of nice, and sort of made him want to leap from the bed in his bare-backed gown and shout "no! let me out of here! it is all a horrible mistake!"

Waiting list here was 18 months on the NHS - dh finally today got his consultation appointment and then the actual snip will be in January. We were told a year when he first signed up...
