*curiosity klazon* 1 week post-marsupialization for Bartholin abscess - Can see/feel hard white lumps, any ideas? [Warning: fairly graphic description, be warned!]

Just as it says up there I had a marsupialization for a big, painful bartholin abscess. Recovery is going pretty well, pain almost gone, bleeding almost stopped. However, in the bath I was have a gentle exploratory poke around, and found something hard, almost like a white tiny stick poking out from the entrance of my vagina. Looked in with a mirror and can see three places inside where there is hard white stuff - one bit almost poking out, one further in that's like a small patch, and one further in that looks like a tiny circle

Is this normal? I'm assuming that it's where they've sealed it open or stitched it (although it doesn't looked like stitches!) somehow.. Does anyone who's had (or done!) a marsupialization know what it is?

Dh helped me have a look and I don't think he'll ever have sex with me again now he has he fear of being poked by tiny hard things when we try!

Oh poor you. I've no experience of them, luckily, but I know what a marsulialisation is. You must have had stitches, surely? Could some of the other bits be the wound draining? Did you get a debrief when you left hospital, any mention of stitches dissolving or needing removal?

The stitches should dissolve, apparently, and both nurse when discharged and the hospital notes say no follow up treatment needed. I did wonder if it could be the skin/membrane where they opened it and stitched it open, but it is very white and as hard as plastic

I do occasionally have a mild panic that they've left half the operating theatre in there but they seemed quite professional..

I had one done a few years ago, but I wasn't as enterprising as you to peep at it after the op. If it is not painful, I think you can safely assume what you are seeing is scar tissue and the bits folded back and exposed as part of the marsupulisationand maybe the residual bits of the stitches.

To set your mind at rest, I would leave it another week, have another look and if you are at all concerned visit/phone your GP for advise or an examination. You don't want to worry that all is not as it should be when DTD.

Oh Lord OP, having followed your other thread I think you are hugely brave to even look!

I second the advice of leave it a week and back to the doctor's if it's not healing, sounds like all is going well though

Silver that sounds hugely sensible and I'm very relieved Thank you! I will check it again in another week, I think that if anything was hugely wrong it would be oozy, painful etc.

Dame How could I not look, I'm a true sporner at heart Yes, feeling good, more or less back to normal now. Wish I had a photo to remember LadyBollock by, may settle for getting DH to do a pencil sketch from memory. The poor man.

I've never had a lady bollock but I had a couple of cysts removed from that area and the stitches were like little white sticks poking out. There was also a small circle of white mesh type stuff that I assumed was a dressing. Can't remember now whether it dissolved or fell off. (The dressing, not my minge).

Packing? I need to look up the procedure really. Poor thing OP.
