I know its no substitute for GP consultation. ..but I'm bored and fed up.

starting last Sat (10 days ago) Head cold - nose head, throat, slight temp (37.5ish). Persistent cough.

Mon/Tues//Weds/Thurs - same but coughing up deep green/brown sludge.
Weds/Thurs very rattly and wheezy in the evening.

Sat/Sun/today getting breathless on excercise, or even just with conversation but sludge has gone. Still got a cough tho. Temp in the morning. Freezing (especially extremities) in the evening.

last couple of days I also have dull pain in ends of longbones (shoulders/elbows/knees)
Today my chest is starting to burn beneath breastbone and beneath my spine.

I haven't been to GP yet cos current lack of sludge suggests not bacterial? But now its been 10 days...

Can a Gp do anything for me or am I just broken beyond repair?

Have you an acupuncturist nearby, sounds like you could do with a helping hand to boost your immune system and a balancing treatment Flowers

What have you self medIcated with?

cantbelieveimonhere · 15/06/2015 21:03

Chest infection or bronchitis IMO. go to gp and then post update with what they said pls!

KeepPloddingOn · 15/06/2015 21:09

At the start of last week I was taking paracetamol for the fever when I was trying to work through it.

more recently I've been letting my body try to fight it.

I am planning to go to GP tomorrow. ..I am still thinking there isn't going to be much they can do - as I don't think its bacterial (I used to work in respiratory research).

I am 10 days in now tho and getting fed up.

lingering chest infection and if you're not careful pneumonia.

ray of sunshine me Grin .

KeepPloddingOn · 15/06/2015 21:39

So I won't be wasting GPs time tomorrow?

None of the symptoms ATM are particularly severe...the pain isn't intense, the fever isn't high, I'm resting so not getting too breathless.

its just all of it together is making me feel pretty bleugh

Bad cold. I thought colds were supposed to last 3 weeks. Colds can be heavy & annoying.

Food & sleep & warmth!

scarletforya · 15/06/2015 21:55

Viral.

Twodogsandahooch · 16/06/2015 06:21

Breathlessness is not normal with a cold. See your GP ASAP

Northumberlandlass · 16/06/2015 06:33

I've got exactly the same symptom, throw in sickness / runs too! Sad
I went to GP yesterday & i have a chest infection. I've already started anti b's - get yerself to the docs!!!

KeepPloddingOn · 16/06/2015 09:51

Apparently - although my chest isnt clear it isn't too bad.

I have a chest infection - could be bacterial, could be viral.

I have a prescription for antibiotics to start tomorrow if no better.

I carried on through an awful chest infection that was probably viral initially but became bacterial (secondary infection) and I felt totally out of it. Essentially walking pneumonia. Def take if still feel crap tomorrow.
