I have an ear canal infection (not particularly sore, just a bit inconvenient). About a month ago the Dr gave me an ear spray, which I took, without realising, until it was almost done, it was an antibiotic spray. The problem was solved temporarily, went back to the Dr last week, he took a swab and prescribed Penicillin, I have almost finished the course (and of course have thrush now ) when the phone rings and it is the Drs surgery saying, stop those antibiotics and pick up a prescription for another lot, a spray again!!!
No wonder there is overuse of antibiotics! Why couldn't the first Dr simply have taken a swab, afterall it wasn't sore, sent it to the lab and said we'll phone you when we know what it is and I would have just had the one round of antibiotics not three!!!
