Has anyone had a kidney infection? What are the symptoms?

I have had pain in the middle to my lower back for about a week now, its there all the time doesn't feel worse at any times after eating so i'm not concerned that its gallstones/ kidney stones. I wee often and lots anyway so thats not obvious as an indicator of an infection. I've never had this before so not sure if this is what is wrong or not as i've not hurt my back as far as i'm aware but its really uncomfortable as a dull constant ache.

Can you please give me some advice as i don't want to waste the doctors time if its not needed.

A simple urine test will determine if you have an infection.

Go to your GP. The symptoms sound like a kidney infection. Its a 5 minute dip test.

Gall stones cause pain under your right rib cage usually after eating and when severe the pain travels up into your right shoulder blade. Not really in your back.

Do you have a fever?

What ever the cause of the pain surely having had symptoms for a week it would not be unreasonable to speak to a medic. If it is easier to get an appointment with a perscribing nurse in your practice they will be able to dip test some urine and provide antibiotics if needed.

Inflexible hamstrings is the reason behind lower back pain and I have faced this problem, so according to me you can get relief by pursuing an exercise regimen that includes both strengthening and stretching of muscle group.

I went to the doctor today about it and have been given anti-biotics as it looks like I have a urine infection. I run and cycle so the pain should not be caused by this :/

I had a kidney infection many years ago. I was not able to move from my bed. Extreme high temp and incapacity for anything.

Took me a good couple of weeks to get back on track from that.

I had a kidney infection earlier this year and it was help. Dull ache in my back as well as a sharp pain. Extreme thirst and a fever. I will terribly ill and very close to being admitted to hospital.

I'd had pain for about three weeks, got to the point of extreme fever, sickness, pain so bad I couldn't breathe at times.

I went to the doctors and was sent straight to hospital. I'd been on three different types of antibiotic that didn't work before the hospital finally found one that did.

If you find after a few days that your symptoms aren't improving, don't hesitate to go back and try different antibiotics. I was poorly for weeks afterwards.
